DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY (X-RAYS) AND LASERS
New England Dental Center has ultra-modern dental equipment, including digital x-ray systems. These are one of the
latest advances in dental image diagnostics.
Digital x-rays are radiographs which are processed into a digital format with the aid of sophisticated software interpretation. This type of x-ray technology has many advantages and no known disadvantages over conventional film processed x-rays still in use in most other dental offices and hospitals.
Digital x-rays can consistently show an area with any changes such as the placement of an implant fixture.
KEY BENEFITS
Digital x-rays reduce patient and staff exposure to radiation by as much as 90%. The images are automatically tagged with the exact time (to the minute), date and the patient's name. The images are of excellent diagnostic quality, and because the images can be enlarged, they are easy to share with the patient when attempting to explain any significant matters.
Digital x-rays are environmentally and workplace friendly, because they do not require any caustic chemical solutions or any solutions for that matter. And they are faster to process.
They can be printed out on regular paper with excellent diagnostic characteristics and can be even e-mailed to you (without any image integrity loss)should you relocate or move.
LASER TECHNOLOGY IN DENTISTRY
One of the newest possibilities for today's dentists are the capability for surgeries as well as procedures such as power bleaching or bonding to be performed using lasers. There are multiple advantages to laser assisted procedures:
1. Both simple and complex procedures can be tolerated better because the laser is often much faster than conventional means.
2. The laser assisted procedures are just as sterile as any method. There is simply nothing more sterile than light.
3. The mechanical noises are reduced or eliminated because there are no moving parts in lasers.
